The A Street transition mat was installed

Just a heads up for anyone that uses the A Street beach that needs the transition mat to safely access it, the DPW installed it Tuesday.

A lot of the sand that was piled up on both sides of the area where the mat lies that made it difficult to walk on and more difficult maneuver anything on wheels on were also taken down and the area was smoothed out.

Wishing everyone  a safe and happy summer :-)

Tick Season is Here

Now that the nice weather is finally here, that means that ticks and other pests will also appear.

The DPW arranges for mosquito spraying each year when they begin to infest the area but we have never dealt with spraying or treating for ticks. Given the higher than normal amount of ticks that are appearing locally, we have contacted companies that are capable of treating areas and eliminating ticks and will be meeting with these professionals in the near future to help deal with this issue.

Information on our tick treatment plan will be updated as it becomes available.

In the meantime, you can follow the link below to view a couple of videos on the MA Government website about ticks and mosquitos as well as how to protect yourselves (it will open in a new window):    Ticks and Mosquitos

DPW Sweeper is still down :-(

During the recent process of removing all of the sand and debris from this past winter, our street sweeper broke down.
Replacement parts have been ordered and are expected to arrive soon (we were hoping that they would arrive today or early next week). Once they arrive, the sweeper will be repaired and will be placed back in service.
We will continue to remove as much of the sand and beach debris that was left all over the roads in town and will not stop until it's all picked up.
This post will be updated and a new schedule will be announced for the street cleaning as soon as possible.
Sorry for any inconvenience that this has caused, we're doing our best...

Hull Village Cemetery Expansion Update

Hull Village Cemetery Expansion Update

Please be advised that the expansion project work at the Village Cemetery will begin again shortly. A lot of progress was made last year but had to be stopped due to weather conditions.

This project was needed due to the limited amount of available graves. We are hopeful that the expansion can be completed by the end of the summer. During the construction phase, we ask that people stay away from the impacted area in the northwest corner of the cemetery.

There will be construction fence erected to delineate the area. We apologize for the appearances and any inconvenience caused during the construction.

If you are visiting the cemetery, be sure to look at the new columbarium that was recently installed just north of Spring Street, niches are available for purchase at time of need for this as well.

Please contact the DPW if you have any questions.
