DPW Honors Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It seems that everyone has a family member or knows someone that has been affected by Breast Cancer.
To honor those people, the DPW will be wearing their new pink shirts with the Breast Cancer Awareness Ribbon wrapped around the Town logo for the month of October.
Our own Administrative Assistant Mary Ellen is a survivor, we wish her and everyone else the best of luck and continued health. <3

Nantasket Road Paving This Friday (September 29th)

TL Edwards will be paving Nantasket Road this Friday, September 29th.

The driveways affected by this project will be completed next week as well as the lines in the street being painted. All of the final loam and seeding should also be completed by the end of next week, weather permitting.

Please be aware of the construction and be prepared for delays and/or detours.

Sorry for any inconvenience but the end results will be worth waiting for.

Bench Dedication Ceremony to Honor Fallen Marine

In honor of Corporal Christopher J. Orlando, USMC, a Memorial Bench Dedication Ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 7 at Hull Shore Drive Extension in Hull, Mass.

A competitive surfer and former South Shore Surf Camp Counselor and Instructor, the location was chosen as a symbol of the countless hours Orlando spent on the waters at Nantasket Beach.

Corporal Orlando, a flight crew chief, and 11 other Marines were killed on January 14, 2016 when two military helicopters crashed off the Hawaiian island of Oahu during a nighttime training flight. Corporal Orlando, of Hingham, was 23.

At the time of his passing, Corporal Orlando was assigned to Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463, Marine Aircraft Group 24, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, which was stationed at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii.

During his service, Corporal Orlando was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon.

In addition to many members and friends of this Gold Star Family, several Federal, State, and Local Officials will be in attendance. The public is welcome to attend and show their support for a young man who served his country with honor, and like those that have gone before him, his sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Freedom is never free, it comes with a price.

DPW Storm Prep for Hurricane Jose

Although it is unclear what exactly the Town of Hull will receive for weather from Hurricane Jose, we are taking steps to minimize its impact, whatever it may be.

For our part, the DPW is in the process of removing beach stairs, closing dune openings, cleaning basins and readying our equipment for whatever issues we are forced to deal with. We apologize for any inconvenience these measures may cause but we are doing so in the best interest of the town and its residents along the shoreline.

For more precise weather and Town notifications, please check the Hull Emergency Management page.

Household Hazardous Waste Day - This Saturday

Just a reminder, the Household Hazardous Waste Day is this coming Saturday from 9AM until 1PM at the DCR parking lot along the George Washington Boulevard by the roller rink.

If you live in town and are planning on attending this event, all you will need to bring with you is your drivers license showing that you are a Hull resident. Only out-of-town residents will need an authorization form.
