The Department of Public Works has shifted its main focus to snow removal and drainage issues throughout town for the remainder of this week. Given the amount of snow that we have everywhere and the predicted rainfall coming our way at the end of this week, we will do our best to clean and clear the catch basins in the areas that are particularly prone to street flooding.
Early forecasts predict that we can expect 2-4 inches of rain between Friday and Saturday although that may change as the time draws closer. Nevertheless, warmer temperatures and any amount of significant rain will cause a rapid snow melt and will most likely lead to surface flooding.
You can help with our efforts, if you have a catch basin in front of your property and you have the ability, please take a moment to clear the cover so that any run-off can enter the drainage system.
The process to pick up Christmas trees will continue as time allows and we will make sure that we get everyone's trees before we're done collecting them. If your tree has not been picked up yet, please be patient, we will get to it. There is no need to call our office to let us know that your tree is still in your front yard, we are doing our best to address each and every issue that we face as quickly and efficiently as possible. Any resident that desires can bring their Christmas tree to the DPW barn at 9 Nantasket Ave and leave it for disposal.

The DPW is still going.....
The Department of Public Works crew as well as our private contractors are still working on clearing the streets of Hull. The severe street flooding in several areas of town have hampered our progress but after 12-hours out there, the work continues.
If for some reason, you have not seen a plow truck for a period of time, please do not worry, we will be back around. This town is very fortunate to have a group of dedicated, knowledgeable and hard working guys working for us and the work will continue until the job is completed!
Once the snow and slush clearing process is completed, we will be laying down extra sand and salt on the roads to try to combat the deep freeze that is scheduled ahead of us. This is another long and difficult task that this department faces but it will be completed as quickly and safely as possible.
This department is committed to making sure that Hull is safe to travel through for our residents and visitors alike and we will not stop until that is possible.

Along with approximately a foot of snow, we are expecting extremely high winds with gusts up to 55-60mph and blowing snow causing white-out conditions at times. If you do not have to go outside, please don't.
If you have to be on the road, please make room for the plow trucks and sanders and as always, watch out for emergency vehicles as these times are always busy for our first responders.
Stay warm and stay safe.

Major Winter Storm and Cold Weather Coming
Everyone should be aware by now that a major winter storm will be hitting us tomorrow with the effects lasting into the weekend.
Please do your part to help in the snow removal efforts if possible by staying off the roads unless its an emergency, do not shovel snow from your driveway or walkway into the streets, clear snow from the sidewalks in front of your house, remove all portable items from the edge of the road (basketball hoops, trash barrels, etc), and most of all, if you see a plow truck, please give them the room they need to pass safely.
Please remember to check your vents to ensure that they are clear of snow build-up to avoid any possible carbon monoxide exposure. If you have elderly or disabled neighbors, please check on them to make sure that they are alright as well.
