Atlantic Ave Update

The Atlantic Ave wall preliminary work is completed, road plates were placed over the excavated area to secure the recently poured concrete and to protect motorists.

Additional work and paving will be conducted starting this Friday, March 9th.
Until that time, one lane is open for traffic.

Please use caution in the affected area as there is still construction equipment on both sides of the road.

Further updates will be made as they become available.

Sand Bag Returns and Pick Ups

Anyone that got sandbags from the Department of Public Works prior to last weeks heavy rains and flooding may return them to the DPW if they are done with them.

If you choose to keep them for future use, you may do that as well. If you are keeping them, you should cover them because they will not last long in the elements and in direct sunlight.

There is a yellow flatbed trailer to the right of the DPW garage that you can place any unwanted sandbags on. Feel free to take any from the trailer as well if you need them.

If you live on Beach Ave, you can empty the contents of the bags at the edge of any public access opening, we will continue to push this sand up to replenish the dunes. Any empty bags may be disposed of in the trash.

Additional sand and sandbags will be available for Hull residents as requested...

IMMEDIATE ATLANTIC AVE CLOSURE

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY
Due to the undermining of the wall that supports Atlantic Ave across from Montana Ave (at Gunrock Beach) caused by the recent and continuing wave action, the road will be closed starting immediately.

A construction crew is on site right now to start making repairs. It will take a couple of days to complete this work since most of the work will have to be done around the tidal cycles.

Police details will be located at either end so that emergency vehicles can get through.

Local traffic can make it from Mary Lou’s News to Stony Beach Road, traffic wishing to access areas up to Gunrock Ave must do so from the Cohasset end.

Large construction vehicles will be moving equipment and large stones to and from the affected area.

Sorry for any inconvenience.
